At Agrisan, product development starts with understanding a real need. Lemiclean is one example of how listening to customers, combining technical expertise with hands-on testing, and refining a concept can lead to a market-ready solution.
The idea began with feedback from local farms and a dealer looking for an effective foaming cleaner for applications such as calf pens, parlours, walls, and equipment. Existing products were effective, but some were costly or more corrosive to certain surfaces, highlighting the need for an alternative solution.
Turning Customer Feedback into Product Development
From the beginning, the development process was collaborative. Our R&D team formulated Lemiclean as a quat-based foaming detergent designed to create high, clinging foam that maximizes contact time without damaging surfaces.
Even the product’s fresh lemon scent was influenced by farmer feedback.
“ During a dairy farm visit, a customer shared the need for a foaming product with effective cleaning performance and a pleasant, clean fragrance. We brought their feedback directly to our R&D team and collaboratively developed Lemiclean through laboratory batches and on-farm trials. ” says Kerry Reibeling the Vice President Sales “ The result was a Quaternary Ammonium-based foaming product with high, clinging foam and a fresh lemon scent. Demonstrating how we turn real customer needs into innovative, practical product solutions. ”
Refining the Details Through R&D
Creating the right product meant fine-tuning the details that influence its performance and user experience. Our R&D team worked to achieve high foam with strong adherence, evaluating the foam properties through laboratory testing and sourcing the appropriate raw materials to improve foam stability. Even after finding a solution that would get the job done, we spent time creating multiple lab batches to perfect the clean lemon scent farmers were asking for.
From the Lab to the Farm
Bringing Lemiclean from concept to a market-ready product took several months of formulation, testing, refinement, and real-world evaluation. Lab batches were taken to a local farm and tested in calf pens and a parlour, allowing our team to evaluate performance and make adjustments along the way.
The process to bring Lemiclean to market is a prime example of how we approach custom product development at Agrisan. We listen to the voice of the customer, establish proof of concept, evaluate product stability and performance, engage in field trials, and ultimately manufacture and package the finished product.
Made in Canada, Lemiclean demonstrates what can happen when market knowledge and customer insight are paired with strong R&D, quality, and manufacturing capabilities.
If you see a gap in your market, Agrisan can help you develop the solution to fill it.
